Tiny's Trendy Tuesday: M is for monochromatic maxi!

Happy Tiny's Trendy Tuesday!

On Sunday, Sooper and I were looking forward to watching Game 3 of the NBA Finals.  I am rooting for OKC because I love Kevin Durant, and he is rooting for the Heat because he believes LeBron James is the best player in the league.  Also, Sooper is sick of LeBron haters and wants LeBron to win more championships than Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.  It is usually fun for us to support the opposing teams, except when my team loses, which occurred on Sunday, and OKC is losing the series 2-1 currently.  I hate losing! :(  No worries...they will win tonight!

We decided to watch the game while enjoying a late dinner at a local seafood restaurant.  Seafood and beer were perfect for intense and exciting game watching.  Because the weather was a bit cooler, I was able to wear my tribal print maxi dress.  Typically, the daytime NOLA heat is not conducive to maxi dress wearing.  Therefore, I reserve the maxi for the occasional overcast days and cooler nights.

This Anthropologie hypnotic maxi dress (from last summer) is one of my favorite maxis, because it has POCKETS and was available in petite sizes for the perfect length!  In the customer review of this dress, some reviewers commented that the pockets widen hips, but in my opinion, it just depends on your body type.  This dress is fun to accessorize with gold/brown given the brown/taupe undertones in the dress.  Though I enjoying adding color to complete an outfit, I also love the simple, understated elegance a great monochromatic look.  It is subtly chic.  :)

hypnotic maxi dress: Anthropologie (last summer)
double stranded wooden beaded necklace: Express (old)
aviator sunglasses - Michael Kors (old)
gold bangles - H & M (available in stores)
gold chain bracelet with gold/wooden charms (thrifted)
Stacie gold/cognac gladiator sandals: Steve Madden (available here)

Tiny's Oyster Pearl of Wisdom (OPW) is to create a monochromatic look with clothes and accessories of different shades of the same color that are already in your closet.  A similarly hued ensemble is subtly chic and can help you highlight your best features and downplay your least favorite features.  With monochromatic styling, you can coordinate effortless, fresh, and perfectly polished looks.  Be daring and mix different textures, patterns, prints, and unique jewelry! Tiny's tip is to place the most flattering shade closest to your face.

What color and shades will you use to create your monochromatic look?

  6. I love your maxi! I'm 5" so it's close to impossible to find a maxi short enough for my stature!
